My mid 90's Bach Strad (72 bell, sterling silver plus) has tens of thounsands of hours of playing on it, and the valves were starting to become inconsistent enough that I was considering buying a new trumpet maybe 5 years ago. I had already had my valves professionally serviced, and was doing a heightened cleaning regiment to no avail.
I had been using exclusively Al Cass oil for 15+ years, and a friend recommended I try the Berp #2 piston oil. My valve problems instantly reduced by 90%. A few years later, I got even more relief when I tried the #3 oil. I'll still probably buy a new trumpet at some point, but there really isn't urgency behind the decision like there was back in 2019 or so.
I even ended up buying a full set of Berp Oils to have available for my band students to experiment with in the band room.
I also love that they are petrolium free. Great products!
