The Berp, a clamp-on training device for brass instruments is the most effective teaching tool available. It exposes the foundation of the sound you are creating with your air and embouchure, allowing you to find with your ears the balance of air and embouchure engagement to create the most resonate beautiful sound. The Berp creates resistance requiring proper breath support while playing your mouthpiece in full playing position. By moving valves or the slide as you buzz/play you strengthen pitch awareness, ear training, and the connection between buzzing on the mouthpiece and playing the instrument.

A focused training tool for building breath awareness and control which is often neglected and yet is the foundation of the sound made on a brass instrument.
The BAT helps musicians develop efficient breathing habits while playing the instrument. Using the BAT is like having a third hand which measures the expansion and control of the breath while you perform. Worn around the abdomen, it creates gentle resistance to monitor support, which in turn improves endurance, and enhances tone and range. The balance created between the air we inhale and the engagement of the embouchure is 100% reliant on controlling the amount and speed of the exhale. Reinforcing positive muscle memory through simple, targeted exercises, the BAT is a powerful and necessary companion to everyday practice for all musicians who use the breath to make a musical sound.

“The BAT has become integral in
my daily practice. It reminds me where the activity in my body is needed on the inhale and exhale. Having this subtle reminder reduces my stress level in demanding performance situations.”
