berp bio oil imageberpbiooil

a non-petroleum, non-synthetic biodegradable lubricant for the valves of brass instruments

Introducing a new green alternative that works great!

~Made from canola, a renewable resource grown and manufactured in the U.S.A.

~Longer lasting

~Very slippery, with greater lubricity

~Formulated to clean valves and slides as it lubricates!

For the last couple of years, my former student, Emile Cote has been after me to offer a valve oil on the BERP website. Emile is much more than a former student, I should add. He holds various titles in the BERP “empire”:  Shipping department manager, Vice-president in charge of inventory control, Research and Development guru, Vice-president in charge of packaging, Ultimate inspector of packaging, and other titles, which change from month to month.

In spite of his persistence, my response was, “the world doesn’t need another valve oil.” However, upon further reflection, I realized that the world did not have a non-toxic, biodegradable lubricant made from renewable resources that worked great. So, in keeping with our 1999 mission statement, (The people who produce the BERP are committed to creating a sustainable economy to help heal the earth.), we came up with berpbiooil.

We are proud to offer you something better for your valves and for mother earth. As with the BERP, the concept behind berpbiooil is simple but very effective:  a long lasting, slippery lubricant that will keep your valves clean and moving smoothly. We offer our usual 100% money back satisfaction guarantee if you are not happy with our product after purchasing.

After nearly three years of testing, here are some instructions, disclaimers, warnings, etc.:

  • It works better initially if you clean your valves first before applying, but it is not absolutely necessary. It also works best if you don't mix with other oils or use on your horn simultaneously with other oils.

  • Some deposits may build up in the bottle over time- this is normal. Simply shake gently before use.

  • If it is really cold where you are it will take a few seconds to get the valves up to speed, so while you warm up your fingers, warm up your valves.

  • Don’t automatically re-apply berpbiooil as you did with your old oil—it will last longer.

That’s about it! We would love to hear from you about your own experiences with our new product, or for that matter, about our “old” product the BERP. Please also feel free to send us any questions you have—we will gladly respond.

Thanks for your support,

Mario Guarneri and the folks at the BERP
